Fluidized Bed Roasting Furnace Overview
The fluidized bed roaster (commonly called boiling furnace) utilizes solid fluidization technology for efficient roasting of sulfide ores and similar materials. The furnace features a steel shell construction with insulation and refractory brick lining, including specialized high alumina bricks for superior heat resistance.
Structure and Operation
Structure: Comprises a wind chamber with air inlet pipe at base, air distribution plate, refractory concrete furnace bed with wind caps, and conical upper section to minimize particle blowout. Includes feeding ports, slag outlets, gas exhausts, and top-mounted explosion-proof ports.
Principle: Hot air injection through wind cap orifices creates fluidized material movement (similar to boiling water), enabling efficient roasting. Sulfide ore reactions generate heat, sulfur dioxide gas (for sulfuric acid production), and usable metallurgical slag.
Furnace Types
  • Straight-tube furnace: Primarily for nonferrous metal concentrates with lower roasting intensity
  • Upper expansion furnace: Handles block ores and flotation concentrates with higher roasting intensity
