A rotary kiln, also known as a rotating calcining kiln (commonly referred to as a rotary kiln), belongs to the category of building material equipment.
Rotary kilns can be classified into cement kilns, metallurgical and chemical kilns, and lime kilns according to the materials they process. Cement kilns are mainly used for calcining cement clinker and can be divided into two major types: dry - process cement kilns and wet - process cement kilns.
Metallurgical and chemical kilns are mainly used in the metallurgical industry for magnetic roasting of lean iron ore in iron and steel plants, oxidation roasting of chromium and nickel iron ores, roasting of high - alumina bauxite in refractory material plants, roasting of clinker and aluminum hydroxide in aluminum plants, and roasting of chrome ore sand and chrome ore powder in chemical plants.
Lime kilns (i.e., active lime kilns) are used for roasting active lime and lightly - calcined dolomite for iron and steel plants and ferroalloy plants.
